The thrust of this issue is the meaning of the patterns of letter-levels discussed in the previous instalment. We will also explore more in the art of selecting a name.

In the table above I have shown what each letter is worth (columns) and which level it is on (rows) and have included the meanings list. The rules of patterns in letters is simple; if the letter is on level one it indicates a very strong application of the meanings, on the second level the influence is strong, on the third it is above average.
Thus in the name Matthew the number sequence is 4S 1P 2T 2T 8P 5P 5T Although single letters (M, A, and W) do have a pressure on the name, we are interested in groupings of the same levels (T, T, H, and E). We see a majority of P and T influences. The 2s are the strongest as they are the same letter (T) and show an inclination to share and work in teams more often than working alone. The 8 and 5 (both primaries H and E) indicate single-mindedness to order and action, tempered with adaptability.
Look for the flow in the name Zebediah 8T 5P 2P 5PS 4P 9P 1P 8P This is a classic example of an extremely strong name and character - it has seven Primaries, almost all having a different effect. Charles 3P 8P 1P 9S 3S 5P 1T is a good name with balancing Primaries and Secondaries.
For all this discussion of patterns, I must admit they are not as important as finding the name that suits you. So let us leave patterns and levels and move on to the reasons to change your name.
As discussed in a previous article, changing your name is a serious event. It takes time to garner the effects and they may not be what you wanted in the first place.
We use our familiar name, the name we call ourselves, rather than the one on our Birth Certificate. The reason is simple: we did not choose our Birth Names. Name numerology is the psychological profile of who we are in society; if we went solely by the Birth Names we might as well have a number stamped on our foreheads - mind you that would make numerology a lot easier.
My name is Tobias, which adds to 3 (communicator, childlike, fun, creative), my family call me Toby, which adds to 8 (designer, action, organised, builder, doer), my Birth Name, which I am not going to tell you but does include Tobias, adds to 4 (originator, solid, reliable, dependable) - please note that I do not include surnames here.
Although I display, all of the attributes above, I particularly resonate to those under Tobias. This is of course a simplistic view, and a full analysis of patterns and flow are required for proper work, but it is a good illustration. I see myself, primarily as a communicator, my family see me as a doing person, officially I am regarded as dependable.
This magazine, Spheres - The Spirit Guide, is familiarly known as Spheres, a dynamic change from 5 (fighter, freedom oriented, imaginative, changes) to 1 (pioneer, lead, boss, control, inventor).
Your chosen name defines who you are; changing it can be a difficult task when done quickly. In the next issue we will look closely at name modifications pitfalls and how to avoid them.
